““So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Luke 11:9 NIV
Seek and you will find, but… what are you seeking? Sometimes we find ourselves stuck in a rut of anger, frustration and disappointment, and we find ourselves asking “why does this keep happening.”
I doubt anyone wishes to be stuck in a cycle of frustration, but have you heard the phrase “misery loves company?” When you’re upset or feel you’ve been wronged or like you just can’t understand why you are in this place, if you are like me you seek validation from others. Validation that your feelings are justified, that you deserve better than this moment… then what?
Then you dwell in that moment because you seek more and more validation and that frustration magnifies itself into a state of being. You dig yourself so far into that pit, that you surround yourself with others who either get stuck with you or were already in the pit. They were seeking someone else to join them… validate them… commiserate with them.
But… what happens if you seek hope, faith, trust, understanding that this is a season that will pass if you seek joy. Joy sometimes comes from looking outside of your situation and your own misery. It can come from seeking to be a blessing to someone else, and in return you may find a blessing comes your way.
So I ask you, what are you seeking? Choose to seek more…
